Chandigarh city’s public transport system is set to undergo a transformation within 26 months. The administration of Chandigarh Transport Undertaking (CTU) buses has finalised SGS-Tekia as consultant to prepare and implement the intelligent public transportation system.
The transformation plan is being carried out under the World Bank sponsored modernisation plan of the Chandigarh Transport Undertaking (CTU). Under the plan, the bank will release Rs 13Cr in the next two years.
The operations of the CTU will be modernised with IT-enabled services. Computerised bus-depots having LAN connections will be linked to the central control station. The control station would also track buses through GPS units. The system will also give information related to buses in real-time and the arrival time will be displayed on the screen at bus-stands.
